Plot: A 12-year-old boy searches for the one thing that will enable him to win the affection of the girl of his dreams. To find it he must discover the story of the Lorax, the grumpy yet charming creature who fights to protect his world.

The movie starts out telling the tale of the town, Thneed-Ville, a town made of plastic, and early out we are introduced to Ted, a 12-year-old boy who lives in Thneed-Ville. Ted has a crush on Audrey and would purposely drop his toys into Audrey’s yard just to have an excuse to go over to her house. This time he lands his toy airplane in her yard and proceeds to knock on the door. Audrey, who looks stunning, opens the door and show Ted, a painting she had been working on. The painting was of trees, at first, Ted did not know what they were but when he learns of how much she loves the trees, he sets out to find out more about them.

He returns home and inquires about it to his mother and grandmother. His grandmother manages to get his mother to leave the room before telling him about the once-ler, she tells him that if he really wants a tree that the Once-ler will be able to help him but only if he brings certain things. Upon getting the things his grandmother told him he would need, he set out for the Once-ler, now the Once-ler lived far outside of town and the trip would be very perilous, but Ted did not really care about all of that all he wanted was to make Audrey proud.

Ted arrives at the Once-ler, and is more or less ran off the premises, but being determined, he manages to get the Once-ler to tell him about what had happened to the trees.

The Once-ler explains to Ted that the tree being cut down was entirely his fault and begins the story. The Once-ler was a young lad, who left home in search of the perfect material to make his Thneed, he searched all over the world until he came upon what at the time looked like paradise. He immediately set out cutting down a tree to make his first Thneed, upon cutting down the tree, The Lorax was summoned, who is the guardian of the forest. Now the Lorax is angry with him for cutting down the tree and takes stones to surround the trunk of the tree. When the Lorax was finished, he went over to the Once-ler’s tent, talked to him, and warned him to leave before sunset. The Once-ler ignores the Lorax’s request and continues with the making of his Thneed.

That night the Lorax and a couple of the animals from the forest proceeded to take his bed and set it a float in the river, but had to end up saving the Once-ler’s life after one of the animals had stayed on the bed.

The next day the Once-ler set out to try to sell his Thneed and after many failed attempts, he decided to call it quits, and threw it onto a girl, who made the thneed popular and soon he was in business. He called his family to help him, who really should not be trusted, after a short while they complained that picking the tuffs instead of cutting down the trees were too hard, and the Once-ler being foolish said why not, and thus began the demise of the forrest.

As the demand for thneed increased, so did the cutting of trees, until the Lorax showed him that he had cut down the very last tree.

Now because of the terrible air quality due to the removal of all the trees, a street cleaner O’hara came up with the idea to sell air.

After the Once-ler had told Ted the whole story, he gave him a seed, the very last seed, and told him to plant it, but O’hara had been watching Ted’s movements as he saw him as a threat to his business after he left the city. Now when O’hara saw that Ted had returned with a seed, O’hara set out to do everything in his power to stop Ted from planting the tree.

Now after a lot of confusion and uproar Ted ending up breaking down a statue of O’hara and the wall that surrounded the city to show them what outside really looks like without the trees. After all that, the people were on his side and Ted proceeded to plant the tree in the center of the city. It was probably a few months or so, the sky was no longer dark and gloomy, and the Once-ler was out watering some trees that were growing in his yard, when the Lorax showed up and told him that he did well by getting persons to care about trees again.

A great family movie and a tad bit funny to, but enjoyable and it has a good message.
