I started writing this blog post, probably six times now, This week has been hectic, I didn’t really do much development, I fiddled around with my Ubuntu Server, WordPress works just fine, I have BuddyPress setup on it, no problems at all, runs just like it did on xampp. I tried prestashop, I can’t even get the installation to work, it just gives a 403 forbidden error. Personally, I am not really concerned that it isn’t working, because of my history with the platform, I know it to be a pain in the kiester.
I did do a bit of research on eCommerce platforms, and from the looks of it, it’s easier to just use one of the hosted eCommerce platforms, as a lot of these “open source” platforms are extremely unstable, and the ones that are even remotely stable, are either hard to get installed, or hard to develop for. Which in my opinion, does a lot more harm to these platforms than good, and if you are thinking about using woo commerce, on WordPress its expensive as hell. It would be nice if someone, came up with a shopping platform that was is as stable and easy to work with as WordPress, but also came with everything you need to get your store up and running in under an hour.
Other than that, I did a lot of reading and I started familiarizing myself with Markdown, because it makes my life easier when I have to add snippets of code into my blog posts, if you check some of my newer posts you would see it already being used. That is all I have, for now, I am just focusing all my efforts on mastering the WordPress platform (theme and plugin development), then, I see where it goes from there.
Till the next time, I drop one of these, Live, Love, Enjoy: Life
